Caribou Patrol breaks outreach record at the 2026 Deep Freeze Fest in Edmonton
Caribou Patrol staff, along with several incredible volunteers, were out in full force at the Deep Freeze Festival in Edmonton on January 17 and 18, 2026. The weekend brought mild weather and an amazing turnout, making it a truly memorable event. As part of our grant reporting, we track the number of people we engage with at events like this. Lichen Collection with the Calgary Zoo
On October 4, 2025, we did our second lichen collection with the Calgary Zoo for their resident caribou. Despite the seasons first snowfall arriving just as we set out, everyone's spirits stayed high - and we managed to gather an impressive amount of lichen. Indian Relay Racing
On June 7 and 8, 2025, Caribou Patrol attended the Indian Relay Racing event at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie. It was our first time at such an event and it was truly an expression of Indigenous pride and skill. If you have never been to this event before, you should definitely check it out!
